Experimental Stem Cells for Harrison!

My name's Jonathan and I'm organizing this fundraiser for my son, Harrison, to get an experimental stem cell therapy on Friday, August 6th at a clinic in Southern California. Harrison is a 4-year old with a ultra-rare genetic condition called Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome (AHDS). A year ago, Harrison suffered a C-spine injury that left him in spinal shock, respiratory failure, and quadriplegia. He spent nearly 6-months at Seattle Children's Hospital recovering and healing. He is now ventilator/wheelchair dependent which has been life altering for us as a family. A good family friend had experience with this clinic in CA and she saw pretty remarkable improvements in her special needs son after one treatment and this inspired us to seek it out for Harrison. Our aim for the treatment is to help restore impaired function from his injury and to see if we can possibly even make progress in his underlying syndrome. We have no idea whether this will be effective or not for him but we have to at least try. After lots of encouragement from friends/family, we are doing a trial fundraiser for a modest amount to help support the costs we will be incurring for this endeavor. We expect to spend around $12,000 out of pocket in both treatment and travel-related costs. We live in Tacoma, WA and will have to travel to Southern CA in our wheelchair van over the course of 2-3 days.
