Extend Carolyn's Life with Vital Treatment

Hello all my name is Krista! My brother John James and I are starting this go fund me for my mom Carolyn. My mom is retired and worked in the Yonkers public school system for 25+ years. She is a mother to myself, my older brother John James and has 3 fur babies. She is loved by so many friends and family!

Our story starts in July 2021 when our father John passed away from a sudden heart attack post-surgery. About 6 months later my mom then was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Everything hit us all at once and we weren’t prepared for any of it. It has been 3 years since my mom was diagnosed and she has tried many treatments including chemo, targeted therapy and clinical trials.

We have found a treatment that can help extend her life! This treatment is called HemoDetox blood filtration through the company Lumati. I have listed a link below to explain the science behind it. Unfortunately, this is not done here in the states and is very expensive. 9 filter treatments are what was recommended for her condition and would take place in Tijuana Mexico. She would receive 3 filter treatments on her first trip and would have to go back two more times for the rest. The price for 9 filters is $225,000 total and the first round of treatments is $75,000.

***Update***: On 1/13 mom started her filter treatments. We were in Tijuana Mexico for a total of 5 days where she completed 4 filters in total. She had some minor complications while in treatment, but all went well. Unfortunately, a day after she came back from travel she was hospitalized with pneumonia for almost 3 weeks. She also caught the flu during her hospital stay and was told her cancer progressed. She was fully relying on oxygen and was on heavy duty antibiotics/pain meds. Thankfully mom was discharged from the hospital and was put into rehabilitation for another 3 weeks to help build herself back up. She is now home and fully recovered.

Her oncologists put her on another targeted therapy medication regimen while she was in the hospital. With the filter treatments and the new targeted medications her lung cancer tumor has shrunk in half and her brain mets have also significantly improved! We are thankful to have had these filter treatments available to her as we also believe this helped tremendously with her recovering from pneumonia/flu. For now, she will be continuing her targeted medication regimen and may continue the rest of her filter treatments in the near future.
