Extend Carolyn's Life with Vital Treatment
Donation protected
Hello all my name is Krista! My brother John James and I are starting this go fund me for my mom Carolyn. My mom is currently retired and worked in the Yonkers public school system for 25+ years. She is a mother to myself, my older brother John James and has 3 fur babies. She is loved by so many friends and family!

Our story starts in July 2021 when my father John passed away from a sudden heart attack post surgery. About 6 months later my mom then was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Everything hit us all at once and we weren’t prepared for any of it. It has been two years since my mom was diagnosed and all treatments have stopped working. She has tried everything that was offered to her from chemo to immunotherapies and clinical trials with no luck. Her health has declined and is getting worse by the day.
We have found a treatment that can help extend her life! This treatment is called HemoDetox blood filtration through the company Lumati. I have listed a link below to explain the science behind it. Unfortunately, this is not done here in the states and is very expensive. She will need 9 filter treatments over a 3 month period in Tijuana Mexico which can cost up to $225,000. We have already set up her first 3 treatments that start on January 13th. She will also be going back in February and March for the following treatments.
We are desperate to keep her here as long as we can. Any donation is much appreciated and can save her life. Thank you all and if you cannot donate please keep her and my family in your prayers!

Update: On 1/13 mom started her first filter treatment. Was definitely a long day and a struggle as there were some complications with catheter/IV placement and the filter clogging. Her first filter clogged within an hour of her first treatment which was expected because her white blood cell count was almost 51k which is extremely high. The filter clogging happens when there is so much toxins in the blood that the filter is absorbing and cannot handle the load. They replaced her filter with a new one and was able to continue the rest of the 3 hours of treatment.
On 1/14 we started her second filter treatment and her white blood cell count has already gone down to 28k within one day. She did a lot better and clogged the filter after 3.5 hours of treatment and pushed it for the full 4 hours. She did not need to replace it this time around. She did have some minor set backs (allergic reaction to medical tape and swelling/retaining water in left arm). She definitely is exhausted from all the set backs and meds that she has been taking but thankfully it has only been minor set backs that are being fixed. Hoping she will feel some positive effects of the treatment soon!
Second update: Unfortunately, Mom was admitted into the hospital on 1/16; one day after coming back from her treatment in Mexico. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, the flu and her cancer has progressed. She had a rough time and was in the hospital for 2.5 weeks. She is finally doing better and is now in a rehabilitation center to help build herself back up as she cannot do anything independently at this time and is dependent on oxygen. We do not know how long she will be in rehab, but we are insinuating at least a few weeks and are hoping she can be off of oxygen once discharged. We are putting the next round of treatments in Mexico to the side for now until Mom fully recovers. She is currently on targeted chemo medication’s for her cancer and are hoping they start working and help her in the meantime. We are still accepting donations to help cover her first round of treatments that was done in January. We appreciate all that has donated and reached out
