Extensive Trauma-Based Therapy Fund

I am holding this fundraiser on behalf of my Palestinian friend who has been in urgent need of trauma-based therapy to heal from emotional and physical trauma caused by sexual assault, which has heavily impacted her daily life and mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, and emotional instability.

The extensive treatment program required is called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing), a form of psychotherapy that assists trauma patients by concentrating on memory and emotion in order to heal the body from physical trauma. It will be supplemented with Somatic Experiencing, a body-based therapy, which transforms traumatic memories into strengths and resources to resolve developmental trauma, PTSD, sexual trauma, violence, and abuse.

At her request, her name or picture will not be disclosed to protect her safety. Donations will go entirely to funding this therapy which will cover 30 sessions at the therapist’s recommendation due to the extremity of her trauma, allowing for an in-depth healing process. These treatment sessions will occur several times per month during a 6 month period and will begin as soon as possible. Her health insurance doesn’t cover this rigorous therapy treatment and she is unable to cover the complete cost due to financial constraints.
