Extinction Rebellion Vic arrestee fund
Extinction Rebellion is an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to halt mass extinction and minimise the risk of social collapse.
During the Spring Rebellion, 111 XR participants were arrested for civil disobedience. Disrupting business as usual to demand action now to halt the crisis involves breaking the law.
Our strategy of peaceful civil disobedience movement is in the tradition of Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. We promote civil disobedience and rebellion because we think it is necessary- we are asking people to find their courage and to collectively do what is necessary to bring about change.
Extinction Rebellion participants will be supported with free legal assistance. Funds raised will be used to directly support the rebels who were arrested. Your support will help us continue our work at this crucial time.
Without your support we cannot continue to disrupt the system that’s disrupting life on the planet. Please donate what you can.
If you’d like to find out more about our movement and actions, please find XR Vic’s Facebook page here . Or visit XR Australia’s website here .
Money raised by this campaign will be used with the discretion of the XR Arrestee Legal Support and XR Regenerative Culture working groups.
