Hi guys, some of you know, but most don’t, but my dad went for his colonoscopy on Sept 6th, and they found a huge tumor in his colon; it was so big the doctor said that it was close to being completely obstructed and that surgery was going to be done ASAP. However, that was just one of the issues, he told us they would need to do a biopsy to see if it was cancer; unfortunately, at his next appointment, they confirmed that it was, in fact, cancer. The next step is surgery to remove the cancerous tumor, so we went and saw the colorectal surgeon on Sept.19th, and he has now set my dad’s surgery for Oct. 21st. The only issue is that my dad’s insurance doesn’t offer short-term disability, so that means he won't be getting paid while he has the surgery and makes the 1-month recovery. My mom won't be able to work for at least a week, so she can be with him for his 4 day hospital stay and those first few days after he leaves the hospital to recover at home. So that will be a big loss for their income to be able to pay their bills for the month and their weekly health insurance payment, which usually comes out of his checks, that will have to be paid, or they will lose their coverage. If you know my parents, then you know they would never want to feel like a burden to anyone, but financially my sister and I alone are unable to help with all of the expenses.
