Joshua Marino

We are the friends and family of Joshua Marino.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help with medical expenses, medical equipment, a service dog, and future expenses for the care of Josh.

Josh worked as a summer intern at Goldman Sachs in Salt Lake City leading up to the accident.

On June 17, he jumped into a swimming pool and heard a cracking sound as he hit the bottom. As he tried to pull his body up to the surface, he realized his body had gone limp, and he had lost all feeling below the chest.

Josh struggled four times to reach the surface with no luck, and the fear of drowning raced through his mind.

Josh and his family are forever grateful for the interns who pulled him out of the water that day. They are why Josh is with us today.

After getting rushed to the ER, Josh learned he had fractured his C6 vertebrae, resulting in paralysis below the chest. He spent almost a month in intensive care on a ventilator before he was flown from Utah to Colorado for rehabilitation.

Josh is such an amazing young man!

After graduating from South Range High School as valedictorian, he attended Ohio State University on a full scholarship and was accepted into the Integrated Business and Engineering honors program.

Josh is currently studying finance and mathematics with a minor in engineering.

Outside of school, he loves spending time with his friends and family, meeting new people (who soon become friends), working out at the gym, and participating in triathlons.

Josh hasn't given up and views this injury as just a setback.

He is more motivated than ever and has made it his goal to return to school following rehabilitation. His sense of humor, constant smile, and positive attitude have helped his parents and family get through these challenging times.
