Help Ezrah and His Family During Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Ezrah Brown, a happy two year old boy, was unexpectedly diagnosed with a Wilms tumor on Thursday, October 28th, 2021. We have since learned that it is stage 4 cancer and has spread to his lungs.
On Thursday, October 28th we were working on potty training Ezrah when we noticed blood in his urine. We immediately called 911 and they advised us to take him to the emergency room. After several hours of waiting, he received an ultra sound. Shortly after we were informed that he has a large mass on his left kidney and that we should go up to Tacoma Mary Bridge Children's Hospital for further testing. We left immediately and went straight there. We got checked in and they did some blood work.
A Doctor came in to talk to us. This is the moment our lives were turned upside down. He told us that what they found was most likely a Wilms tumor. If this is true, he has a 85% chance of walking away from this and living a good long life.
We are now going into the early hours of Friday morning. A few more test were ran. A CT scan, X-Rays and an ultrasound. When you think it can't get any worse, it does. We found out it has spread to his lungs. It was determined that Ezrah needed surgery right away to remove his kidney. So, at 2:00 pm he was taken back for pre-op and surgery began at 4:00 pm. The next five hours were the longest hours of our lives.
We are incredibly thankful that the amazing team working on Ezrah during his surgery was able to remove his kidney with zero complications. They found a mass near his liver which they also removed. Both were sent out for a biopsy. Unfortunately, the mass near his liver came back as malignant, therefore he will now need radiation. The mass on his kidney was confirmed as a Wilms tumor.
Ezrah was recovering great from his surgery and was able to go home on Thursday, November 4th. He will continue to recover from surgery while they wait for the rest of the test results to come back.
Next steps will include radiation and chemotherapy. We have a long road ahead of us, but we are staying optimistic.
This Go Fund Me account has been set up as a result of family and friends wanting to find a way to support us, the Brown Family, with our upcoming needs: medical bills, time off from work, hotel stays, etc. We are a single income family, so any work missed is a huge hit to us financially. We greatly appreciate any and all donations.
Please follow along on this difficult journey as updates will be posted along the way. ❤
