Sydell Group Employee Relief Fund (NoMad, LINE, Saguaro Hotels)
We are at a moment unlike anything we have ever known. We have had to choose between staying open to serve those guests who need us while continuing to keep the lights on for our staff who depend on our businesses for their livelihoods, and the critical need to do our part in helping to fight a global health crisis. This is the hardest moment we have ever navigated as a company. While the choices we make today are critical to save lives tomorrow, these decisions have a devastating impact on many lives.
As of now, every restaurant and bar in our portfolio is closed for the foreseeable future. Additionally, we have temporarily closed hotel operations at 6 of our properties to comply with local mandates and to protect the safety of guests and staff. The hard fact is that we have had to furlough a large number of staff temporarily until we can safely reopen for business. The magnitude of the impact on our employees is overwhelming. Our hearts are with our beloved teammates who are affected, and to the millions of people in the hospitality and service industries experiencing the same globally. There is no perfect solution in a time like this, but we are dedicated to doing everything we can to help our employees and our communities.
To that end, we are working on both long term and short term efforts to support our teams. Among those efforts is this employee relief fund which will directly benefit those affected by the loss of income. The fund has been seeded by CEO Andrew Zobler and our Executive Team and every dollar will go directly to our employees who were impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. This is just one of many efforts we are undertaking to support the amazing people who bring our hotels, restaurants and bars to life every day.
Our motto is We Make Hotels. What this means to us is that we dedicate our waking hours and our passion to the gracious hospitality and service of our community of guests and patrons. For us, the act of hosting is something far greater than a job. It is a reflection of the deeply human need to care for and be cared for by others. Our teams dedicate their lives to this mission, and now is the time that we dedicate ourselves to caring for them.
On behalf of all of us at Sydell, we send our best wishes for your safety and well being. We are grateful for your loyalty and support through the years and look forward to getting through this and celebrating brighter days ahead together. Until then, please take care and thank you for your support of our beloved Sydell family.
