Charlotte’s Recovery
On June 17, 2021, Charlotte was involved in an accident. She has extensive injuries - she lost her left foot, her thumb and two fingers on her left hand, and also has serious injuries to her left knee.
Thus far, Charlotte has had 3 surgeries. She is recovering at Hershey Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA. Her recovery process will involve healing, therapy and a prosthesis.
Charlotte’s parents, Martina (Leshko) and Ryan Buffington of Gratz have not left their daughter’s side since this happened. They are in a place that they never thought they would be, dealing with something that they never thought they would have to go through.
Charlotte is a typical 5 year old. She is spunky, active, imaginative, silly and loving. She is a twin to Nathan, a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece and a friend.
I have known Charlotte’s mom for more than 20 years. She was a student in the high school in which I taught. While I never taught Martina, she and I formed a bond. She is a friend and a “daughter”.
The financial impact of Charlotte’s medical bills, future travel expenses, and other costs cannot be tabulated or even comprehended at this time.
We ask that you pray for Charlotte’s healing and comfort. She is FIERCE, STRONG, and BRAVE. Any donation, prayer or simple act of kindness will provide the family with support when it is needed most. Whether or not you are able to donate, please help to spread the word and share this campaign with others. The family is grateful for your love and support.
And though she be but little, she is fierce.
