Family and friends,
As some of you know, about a month ago Roland was out of town visiting family when he became ill. Out of respect for Roland and his family’s privacy, the information that we are sharing was not posted on social media until now. On Sunday, January 14, 2024, Roland was admitted to Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple, Tx.
That very day, Roland underwent a surgery that no one knew would unfold a series of medically necessary procedures to save his life. During what seemed to be one of the longest, scariest nights imaginable, we almost lost him a few times. The amazing doctors and nurses said that they were going to do everything that they could for him and they did!
The sequence of events following were one surgery after another, with very hard medical decisions made including one to amputate his left arm. He was sedated and intubated for almost a week (the longest week ever!). Once the physicians felt he was medically stable, he was extubated and started breathing on his own instantaneously. Through God’s grace, one day at a time, with his Mom at his side, Roland has made significant improvements but has a long road of recovery and healing ahead of him. As of today, Roland is in an LTAC facility in Temple, receiving wound care and rehab daily to get stronger. He will soon be moving closer to home (Victoria) to continue with physical therapy and a lengthy wound care regimen.
The outpouring of prayers, calls and visits from his friends and family really shows how much Roland is loved by MANY!! If you know Roro, you know that he always has a smile on his face, is the life of the party and always there to lend a hand when someone needs something. He is our family and a dear friend to many and we love him BIG! We are creating a GoFund Me account to help defray medical and living expenses as Roland starts a very long road to recovery. Only God knows what the future holds, but we know that Roland is a fighter and we are gonna be there to support him on this new journey. Please continue to send prayers and if you are able to help, it will be greatly appreciated!! ❤️
