The Big Walk
THE BIG WALK
Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September.
6 walkers will embark on a 40 mile walk.
Greyhound Lifeline is a charity which has been finding loving homes for retired racing greyhounds since 2007. In 2022 we moved from our kennels in Fleet to our new home in Southampton.
To celebrate this latest chapter in our charity's story, we are embarking on 'The Big Walk'. We are aiming to complete it in 32 hours. Day 1 we will walk the first 22 miles and then set off again on day 2 to finish it by 3pm. We will be walking the 40 miles between our old home and new, aiming to raise awareness of Greyhound Lifeline, these amazing dogs as pets and £4,000: £100 for every mile. We are raising this money so it can go towards our eventual aim of buying a paddock for our dogs, to do what they love and run free.
To make this challenge happen the rest of the team will be taking on a number of important roles, including: support vehicles, co-ordinators, marshals, collectors along the way, dog transporters and many more.
Our greyhounds will also have a significant role to play over the weekend. Some will walk with the walkers, for short distances (weather permitting) and others will help raise additional funds along the way.
We are completing this challenge on Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September 2024. The team would love for your support to help line the route and give that extra bit of encouragement that for all of our supporters to support us and help line the route will be needed on the day!
Route of walk will be shared on media before the event.
