Trixie Needs Cataract Surgery

Tax deductible
Trixie's big problem is that she cannot see because she has cataracts in both eyes. She seems to be able to see enough not to bump into walls, etc., but not much more. We are told that surgery to let Trixie see again, and the necessary aftercare, will cost about $4,500 to $5,000.

Trixie is a darling little Miniature Schnauzer who we, California Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, rescued from the Long Beach shelter. She was filthy and buried in long matted hair. When we got her, she was just a smelly, greasy ball of fur with a wagging tail.

The shelter said they thought she was an 8 year old Schnauzer mix. When we bathed and trimmed her, we discovered there was a really cute purebred Schnauzer buried inside the mess, and that Trixie appears to be no more than 5 years old. Trixie is small for a Miniature Schnauzer. She weighs about 12 lbs. She has natural ears and a natural tail.

Trixie loves people and gets along well with both dogs and with cats. She appears to be in good health, apart from the cataracts. She is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. She will be spayed before placement. And she will make some lucky family a GREAT pet once she can see again.
