Baby Scarlett
In the midst of a global pandemic, Scarlett Rose decided she was ready to make her entrance. Nearly 3 months too early, on 3/22 she weighed in at 2lbs 10.7 oz and 14.9 inches long! We will be stuck in the Nicu together for about 8 weeks, while my husband cares for our other children miles away.
Scarlett has recently gotten her PICC line out, which is a milestone! She is still on the CPAP for breathing and using a NG tube for feedings but any progress is better than none and we are thankful for all the milestones we can achieve.
Although our health is my biggest priority, there are a few things I know I need to ask for help with.. unfortunately the car seat I planned to use will be expiring before we will be discharged and won’t pass a car seat test, understandably. The replacement carseat is rated for premies, and lightweight, but 4+ weeks out, which is heavy on me and our funds through this.
Some other essential things I was not able to get before Baby Scarletts arrival include: a bassinet, blooming baby bath, premie diapers, bottle sterilizer, milk storage bags, first aid baby kit, and socks!
I will figure out the rest.. I am doing okay myself, just know I need to relieve some of the weight on my shoulders while we are here alone and Im unable to leave with the NICU rules that I will not being allowed back in. Being stuck in a dark Nicu room isnt the most relaxing happy place to be surrounded by monitors and strangers- but thankful for it all.
Peace of mind would mean the world to me in a time like this, and knowing Scarletts needs are met. Shes the only daylight I get to feel or see. ❤️
I wish you all health and safety, enjoy the time with your loved ones.
