My Story: Fighting for My Future

In 2024, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Being diagnosed at 31 as a Black woman was unimaginable. I never thought I’d be facing something this life-altering so young. The fear, the uncertainty, and the endless questions felt overwhelming. But through it all, I’ve found strength in places I never expected—within myself, my loved ones, and the incredible community that has supported me.

From the moment I heard the words “triple-negative breast cancer,” my world shifted. As a wife and a mother of three, my first thought was my family. How would this affect them? How would I find the strength to keep going for them? The weight of this diagnosis wasn’t just mine to carry—it became a part of my family’s journey too. I had to face not only the physical toll of treatment but also the emotional burden of staying strong for the people who need me the most.

I’ll never forget the day I had to sit my children down and explain what was happening. How do you tell your babies that mommy is sick? That some days I wouldn’t have the energy to play or even get out of bed? Their little faces were filled with so many questions, and all I could do was hold them close and promise that I would fight with everything I had. My husband has been my rock, stepping in when I couldn’t, reminding me that I am not in this alone. Through every chemo session, every sleepless night, every moment of doubt, they have been my reason to keep pushing forward.

Every day, I fight back tears—not just from the pain or exhaustion, but from the weight of the unknown. Will I get to watch my babies grow up? Will I have more time with my husband, the man who has stood by me through it all? The fear is constant, but so is my determination. I wake up every day choosing to fight, choosing to hope, choosing to believe that my story isn’t over yet.

This journey has tested me in ways I never imagined, but it has also shown me the depths of my own strength. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this—I will keep fighting, not just for myself, but for my family, for others facing this battle, and for the hope of a future where no one has to face this alone.

I’ve never been the type to put my personal business out there or ask for help, but right now, I’m taking a leap of faith. I’m hoping that there is still kindness in this world, because at this moment, I truly need it. The financial burden of my medical expenses—$35,000—and the impact of lost work hours have put a strain on my family. I’m doing everything I can to stay strong, but I can’t do it alone.

If you’re able to support in any way—whether by donating, sharing my story, or simply sending prayers—it would mean the world to me. No act of kindness is too small. Thank you for being part of my journey.
