Fund our Garden Program

Tax deductible
Our school garden, Malaʻai, is a non-profit that works in partnership with Waimea Middle School, a public charter conversion school on Hawaiʻi island.  Each of our 280 students matter deeply to us, and as well as working closely with them we also serve another 1200 community members through our healthy choices outreach programming.

As our students work with systems and patterns of nature to grow food they experience scientific concepts while doing real and meaningful work.  This experience connects them with our land and our culture and helps them to view themselves as an integral part of our community.

We are planting seeds of good health, curiosity, land stewardship, and practicing Hawaiian values that are universal.  These include: Pa'ahana (hard industrious work); Āi Pono (righteous healthy food); and Mālama ʻĀina (tender care for the land).

Our students say it better than we do. Please watch this video and consider supporting us.

We are currently raising $20,000.  This money will be used to strengthen our student and community programming.   Any amount you can give helps us towards our goal!

Our mission: Mala’ai: The Culinary Garden of Waimea Middle School cultivates the relationship between students and the land through growing and sharing nourishing food in our outdoor living classroom.  Our work reaches beyond the boundaries of our garden connecting land stewardship, culture, health and pleasure with lifelong learning.

Our core values include: Generosity of Spirit, Integrity, Sustainability, Beauty, Harmony, Connectedness, Appreciation, Respect and Pa’ahana.
