Help Mason Get a Service Dog
Donation protected
Update- wonderful donors have helped to fund Mason’s service dog, HOWEVER we still have to make multiple trips to Connecticut to the organization before and after receiving Mason’s dog including a 14 day team training. This is over a 15 hour drive for us and Mason is unable to tolerate being in the car that long so we have to fly which is very costly when making multiple trips with multiple people as Mason requires myself and another adult with assistance on the airplane and through the airport. Please help us continue to make this life changing opportunity possible for our son, we can not do it without support.
My name is Morgan, I am a mother, and I am here because I want to help my son. We are desperate for a positive change to improve Mason’s life.
Mason is a bright, animal and car loving, 4.5 yr old little boy who has non-verbal autism and mixed language processing disorder. Mason was diagnosed with autism shortly after his 2nd birthday and has progressed in his severity since diagnosis. We are unable to do daily things like go to a restaurant, a park, or socialize with friends due to Mason’s disabilities. Even simple daily tasks like changing clothes or getting ready for bed are struggles for our son that often result in him hurting himself in someway. We are an active duty military family and the lifestyle can be unpredictable. We are desperate for a change even though sharing this part of our life is hard.
A service dog will not be a pet but a life changing opportunity for our son. Unfortunately, since these dogs are highly trained working professionals they come with a hefty price tag of about $20,000. Masons service dog will be trained to keep him safe in public areas such as parking lots, make transitions in daily life possible, redirect self injuring behaviors, redirect repetitive behaviors such as skin picking, provide deep pressure therapy, reduce and detect anxiety, provide sensory stimulation, help provide a bridge for social interactions, improve communication opportunities, and provide Mason with safety and comfort as it is difficult for him to find that in people.
Please come along with us in our journey of creating a better life for our son! Thank you for your time and support. Anything counts.
