Help a Survivor Rebuild Her Life

My name is Danielle, and for the past 20 years, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting young people through sports, education, and life navigation. This year, I connected with a young woman through sports, but under heartbreaking circumstances.

A year ago, she left home with hope and ambition, earning a full academic scholarship to college. But while pursuing her dreams, she endured an unimaginable tragedy—she was raped at gunpoint. Overwhelmed by fear and unable to focus on school, she made the painful decision to return home.

When she came back, she didn’t share her trauma with her family. Instead, she struggled in silence, eventually being forced into a life of prostitution. Two weeks ago, in the middle of the night, she called me crying, terrified, and asking for help. Without hesitation, I said yes.

Today, she is in a program that provides housing and resources to help her heal and rebuild. But she left everything behind—she has no belongings, no essentials, and no financial support as she transitions into stable housing and employment. My family and I have been helping, but she needs more than we can provide alone.
