Help Oscar Get the Dental Care He Needs
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Sean, and this is my little buddy Oscar, named as such for the chip in his right ear he had when we first got him. He's a runt and when he was born, he was barely the size of someone's palm (he could be held comfortably in one's fist) and was in a shelter for nearly six months with cats of the same age that used to bully him for food.
This is him when he was healthy, not too long ago, after we got him some weight loss (he was a lil' bit of a chonker for a runt because of how much he liked to eat, but we got him to slow down and get cozy).
This was him when he was about 1 year old. A big healthy guy with extra weight. He liked to eat, and then hide his leftovers beneath the bowl we fed both him and his sister with.
This is him now. He's skin and bones. After a URI when he was a kitten, he developed sinus problems that could only be "fixed" via cauterization but were supposedly not a health risk or problem. He'd just be sneezing a lot, and we kept him clean (along with himself and his sister). He was pretty happy for a few years! Still is rather happy despite what's wrong.
Now, his teeth have been falling out. It started with one bad tooth and the vets had a look at him, telling us that tooth had been rotten and if we wanted to get the rest of them looked at and fixed, it'd be over an extraction: A 1,000 dollar bill, not including any other expenses.
( A very recent picture of him. Don't worry he's not being choked! Carefully peeled his lips back despite his grumblyness. )
In my other GoFundMe (for my Mother's cancer, won't be listed here as that is not an emergency), I have mentioned we are living paycheck to paycheck; by the skin of our teeth, honestly. I'm disabled and currently working with the government on getting disability (don't know how successful that's going to be now, considering), so the only income is from Mother's alimony currently (which is just below 28,000 a year...), so everything has been a struggle.
While we could eventually save to take Oscar to the vet, our car (A Nissan hybrid) broke down and we don't know why. The cost to get an estimation of what could be wrong is currently around 190 and is affordable for an emergency, but the problem we're told it might be is either a sensor or a solenoid, which is upwards of a thousand dollars if either is inside of the transmission.
So this is causing more problems in the end, as we now can't get medicine (life saving for my Mother who relies on Insulin for her type-1 diabetes), as we cannot afford grocery or medical deliveries without outside assistance. At the moment, a very considerate friend has been helping us with said deliveries, but we don't want to have to rely on people who are also struggling because of economic changes either!
So we're just looking for help to get the car fixed, and Oscar taken care of. He's still young, so we know an extraction, a cleaning, and some antibiotics will probably be all we have to go through with him.
I'm going to be honest, he's my little man.
He saved my life when I had a belt around my neck and was considering a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and I can't imagine a world without him in it, for as long as I can help him live a happy life.
I'm begging for help.
I don't expect to get the full goal, obviously, but if we could reach at least 2,000 dollars, I think the rest would easily (I'm being optimistic, I have to be) take care of itself!
ANY help is help. Exposure, tiny donations worth that of a small coffee, anything.
