Let's support Ryan while he recovers!
Funds will help cover the cost of uncovered medical bills over the course of treatment as well as other bills while he is in recovery.
Post on 2/7 from Ryan's Facebook account sharing what occurred:
"One week ago while I was walking home from a late dinner, I was in a crosswalk and struck by a car going about 40-50 mph. Eyewitnesses said I did a few cartwheels in the air before landing in the street. The driver sped off leaving me there. Fortunately there was a nurse that saw the whole thing, called EMS, and prevented me from being run over by any other cars. I was taken to Regions Hospital for emergency surgery to stop intense internal bleeding in my mid section and they were able to stabilize me.
I had broken my pelvis in a couple of places and ruptured my bladder. No head trauma which is amazing to think about! The next morning had another surgery to repair my pelvis and bladder, which was a success.
It's going to be a long road to recovery (12 weeks, non-load bearing on my legs) but I should make a FULL recovery. I feel like God is not done with me yet. I feel like He protected me from something that could have been so much worse. Not even sure I should be alive today but am grateful for the opportunity at another chance He has given me.
Today, I ask for your prayers as my body recovers from the trauma. Prayers for perseverance when I have a setback, prayers for a full recovery. I praise God for my progress so far - I even was able to get out of bed today, which was no small feat! Also am so grateful for the first responders, doctors, nurses that saved my life and continue to care for me.
Thank you and bless you all. Make each day count. Be grateful for the little things and each other because life can change in a moment."
