Help Me Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cara Alyssa Wiggins, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. I am a 26-year-old ambitious, determined, and creative young lady whose life has come to a sudden standstill.

It all began when I was traveling for vacation in July of this year, when I started to experience some unusual, sudden changes to my body. I became extremely concerned when my motor skills started to diminish at an increasing rate, and something as simple as walking became almost impossible to do on my own. I decided to go to the emergency room for a checkup and did a series of tests, scans, and MRIs, which showed abnormal findings in the brain. They performed an emergency brain surgery (status biopsy and laser interstitial thermal therapy) otherwise known as LITT. This revealed terrible news of a terminal diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM), which is a high-grade 3 or 4 tumor that is an aggressive, rare form of a brain tumor. It is not a tumor that can be cured, but one that we hope to control and reduce symptoms.

After a few consultations with multiple medical teams, it was advised that I would have to undergo a combination of daily radiation therapy treatments along with oral chemotherapy. I will also have follow up doctor visits to upkeep, accommodation and transportation to consider (as it was advised by the doctors to stay in close proximity of the hospital). In addition to that, there will be physical therapy sessions, caregiver expenses (as the ability to care for myself will be highly impacted), and basic living needs while abroad until treatments are over.

My treatment length is at this time unknown, but will be expensive. I am seeking your gracious help to assist with my medical expenses abroad, as my home country does not provide provision for this type of brain cancer and I am unable to cover any of it all on my own. This cancer is not curable, and my only hope of surviving and fighting through this, is by getting these treatment plans started immediately.

No donation is too small, and sharing this across each platform will be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your kindness as I plunge into this journey.
