Penny and Scott's Fight

Donation protected
Penny and Scott's Fight began over 16 years ago.  It started when she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Throughout the next several years she went through countless chemotherapy treatments, radiation, experimental drug treatments, and a stem cell transplant.  Unfortunately her cancer spread and due to the various treatments lead to damage in her lungs causing  several  pneumonia and collapsed lung episodes.

In 2012 they received positive news that she was finally cancer free.  Now if only her breathing could get better.

Unfortunately, to make matters worse, in 2013 she was exposed to serious levels of carbon monoxide which because of her already frail and failing lungs lead to pulmonary fibrosis. On March 29, 2019, Penny was life-flighted to St. Mary's ICU in Duluth, Minnesota, with breathing difficulties. Her good lung had collapsed  with a hole in it.   Her other lung was non-functioning and unrepairable.  Due to the severity of the situation, her and her husband needed to get to Duke University Hospital in Durham,  North Carolina where Penny had recently been evaluated as a lung transplant candidate.  She was flown to Duke on April 6.  Scott made the long drive with the help of Penny's uncle.

Penny needs a lung transplant. She is ineligible for a double lung transplant due to the damage to her body from the radiation.

Her and Scott had to immediately relocate to North Carolina from Wisconsin to begin the process for a lung transplant.  This process could take up to one year.  Financially and mentally this will add another burden to Scott and Penny's already stressful life.

Throughout this entire time her husband, Scott Sandor, has never waivered in his support for Penny. This young couple has been through so much already.  Both Scott and Penny have tried to keep a positive attitude, but this last bout is taking a toll on them.   Now it is our time to show our support as family,  as friends,  as a community,  and as people who care.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
