Alyssa’s road to recovery

Aloha, My name is Mark Sadang & Over the last year, my wife Alyssa has struggled with the long term effects of being misdiagnosed, gaslit by local doctors, and mistreated by a flawed healthcare system.
Alyssa is a wife, mother, and entrepreneur who suddenly got sick back in October of 2022. Alyssa suffers from a severe case of Crohn’s disease. This is very hard for her as a mother and business owner. She has had to close her business since April this year.
The biologic medicine that she was on to treat her Crohn’s disease had reactions that have caused long term effects. The medicine caused severe malnutrition and she continued to decline in health. Alyssa eventually lost her ability to walk and live independently. Because of this, her mom is now her full-time caretaker.
On august 20th, everything came to a peak when she lost consciousness, fell down on concrete and hit her head. She was rushed to the ER where they found many more problems. The doctors found blood clots in her leg and lungs. This triggered a 6 week stay in the Hilo Hospital where she had gained 50 pounds of water weight in less than 2 weeks. The doctors had no idea what was happening and administered trial medicines over the course of her 6 week stay.
When she was there, she acquired illnesses in the hospital- pneumonia and C. Diff. These sicknesses made Alyssa’s condition worse and were treated with barbaric methods. In addition, Hilo hospital had her life-saving prescription lost in the pharmacy. They eventually had to get the medicine transferred from a neighbor hospital. HMC also wanted to perform unnecessary surgeries on her colon which caused us to seek a second opinion.
The archaic treatment at Hilo medical center forced us to seek help elsewhere. We went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in order to see the nation’s best gastroenterologists. Now we need help recuperating the costs associated with this lifesaving trip as Alyssa continues her road to recovery.
We plan to continue care and treatment elsewhere in order to give Alyssa the quality of life she deserves. This includes traveling to another island over the next 18 months until she is hopefully able to achieve remission.
All donations are greatly appreciated. God bless and mahalo
