Nelo Community Services

       I finally started this GoFundMe to fulfill my lifelong dream of starting an orphanage, but first, I am building a child and youth community center in Owerri, Nigeria. Nelo Community Services will be a child and youth community center that offers help for children and youth in need of a place to feel safe and call home.

       This dream of mine comes from my own experiences. I lived in Nigeria with my mother until I was six years old. I was an only child. My mom came and lived in Canada as a single parent and I was sent to a boarding school as a child. It was hard to live in school without seeing my mother, to see children playing with their families during visiting days while no one came to visit me. For that reason, I don’t want children to feel lonely and abandoned.

       Nelo Community Services will be creating skill acquisition training and empowerment programs that foster dignity in children and young people who are less privileged. I want to create opportunities for them to dream and live full, rewarding, healthy, and independent lives. My mission is to give young people the opportunity to achieve their full potential through innovative programs and projects in the community. Programs ranging from recreational art programs, amenities with on-site nurses, a library, after-school homework support, and computer training, to professional baking classes, sewing, and fashion designing. I  have great ambition for this community service. My hope is to offer these services plus all meals for free.

      Nelo Community Services will be a place where children will feel safe, treated with compassion, respected, and supported.
