Hello! My name is Ian Delgado. I'm 16 years old and from Orlando Florida (Disney yay) I know it might sound a strange but I am a competitive musical mouth whistler. I had always seen whistling as a way to enjoy myself and pass time. About a year ago, I was whistling after class when someone came up to me and recommended that I try competing somewhere. After about 10 minutes of searching the internet for competitions I came about this one competition named "Masters of Musical Whistling". This looked legit. I spent weeks looking for the best song to audition for and months practicing to be ready. I finally auditioned for the Masters of Musical whistling, (held near L.A.) and actually got in. There were people there from all over the world. My category had people from India, Spain, Canada, Scotland and many more countries. I GOT SECOND!!! I am the youngest person to ever win something at this competition.
At the competition I was approached by one of the Judges and was told of a much bigger and even more Rigorous competition (WWC) The World Whistling Convention. Determined to represent the United States of America , I put on my Chapstick and auditioned for a shot at the title. To my surprise, I GOT IN!!! I ACTUALLY GOT INTO THE TOUGHEST WHISTLING COMPETITION IN THE WORLD!!! I never thought that something like whistling would take me so far. Only one problem, there is absolutely no way I could afford to go.
A trip like this one has so many different expenses. I would have to pay hotel, transportation, plane tickets, food etc... for both my mom and I. There is absolutely no way my family could ever afford this trip. This trip would only be possible with your support! Anything would be a blessing.
Thank you so much for your time, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Q) What do you do at a whistling competition.
A) You prepare a certain amount of songs, classical or western, and perform in front of 3 judges and an audience. They look for Intonation, tone, rhythm, expression and almost everything else that would be looked at in a musical competition
Q) Do you have any videos of yourself
A) Here's a video of me whistling Old Town Road
