Help us help those on the FRONTLINES

WHO: A collective of fashion industry volunteers banding together to sew washable and reusable non-PPE face masks* for essential workers on the frontline during the COVID-19 virus. We want these fearless workers to have all the protective wear they need so they can continue to serve and protect us all.

Let us unite in our support for the essential workers who are putting their safety on the line for all of us! Please donate and help us help them!

WHY: As supplies dwindle and the virus continues to spread, we are being called to provide for those who provide for us from the frontline.

WHAT: Masks* will be made with our network of factories and communities by hard- working, skilled operatives and home-sewers. In collaboration with local factory, Hertling, and over 50 home-sewers (and counting!) we will continue to deliver the masks* to frontline workers, any and all in need! In order to make the best quality mask possible each is constructed of three layers: 100% cotton outer layers with a polypropylene filter in the middle.

GOAL: To make 10,000+ masks. To do this, we are hoping to raise $50,000+. These funds will be used directly to purchase materials needed to make the masks*. We will continue to make masks as long as is possible and the demand exists. Excess funds raised will be donated to relevant charities working to immediately provide supplies for health care providers.

•  Initial $50K grant by the Windhover Foundation
•  GoFundMe has raised over $25K
•  100+ volunteers from NYC to LA
•  Supplied masks to Brooklyn Hospital Center, Froedert Health, Good Plus, Lakeview Pantry (Chicago), Hunger Task Force (Milwaukee), MTA, FDNY, Rose Court Assisted Living (Phoenix) and workers at Lincoln and Syosset Hospitals
•  We are receiving requests from individuals and organizations in need of masks and coordinating with them for deliveries

*NOTE: These face masks are NOT considered Personal Protection Equipment, and are only meant to be worn in addition to proper PPE, according to CDC guidelines. As follows: “HCP use of homemade masks: In settings where face masks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for the care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort. However, homemade masks are not considered PPE, since their capability to protect HCP is unknown. Caution should be exercised when considering this option. Homemade masks should ideally be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front (that extends to the chin or below) and sides of the face.”  While we are following CDC guidelines to maintain a high level of sanitation, we will be asking the people and organizations receiving these masks to sterilize them once received, as we are not medical-grade facilities. Additionally, we are not making any claims in terms of filtration capability or how well they will protect someone against COVID-19.
