Face Shields for New York City Medical Workers
Donation protected
We are 3D Brooklyn, a manufacturing company in NYC.
Like many of you, we are watching this pandemic unfold and feeling the urgency to get involved.
We have that ability but we need your support. Together, we can help.
Governor Cuomo says he expects over 140,000 New Yorkers to be hospitalized and treated for Covid-19. Our front line medical workers are already running low on supplies, and massive local manufacturing operations and overseas supplies are still weeks away.
To help fill the gap, we are mobilizing to produce Face Shields using 3D-printers and laser cutters. These shields are critical personal protective equipment alongside the quickly depleting N95 masks. We are raising money to help maximize our efforts.
We currently have twenty active 3D-printers with the ability to produce 1,500 Face Shields per week.
$40,000 will pay for 20 more machines along with raw materials to double that output to 3000 Face Shields per week. If we beat our goal, we will invest in more machines to increase our production even further.
100% of your donations will go towards the purchase of:
- Clear PET (shield)
- PLA filament
- Elastic ribbon
- Foam
- 20 additional 3D printers
- Shipping
- Labor cost for those currently unemployed due to Covid-19
“We’re about 10 days from seeing widespread shortages,” de Blasio said, adding, “We have seen next to nothing from the federal government at this point.” NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, Forbes 3/22/20
The time to act is now.
Will you help us?
WHO WE ARE:
3DBK is a 5-yr old manufacturing company in Brooklyn (technically) Queens, NY.
Its day-to-day operations are led by Nate Kolbeck, Will Haude, and Max Steiner. This covid-19 response project now has a team of 13, many who are volunteering their time, either in the form of at-home logistics and communication or in the studio assembly, for the greatest output possible.
You can view more of what we are usually up to here: https://3dbrooklyn.com/
We will be withdrawing the funds into the 3D Brooklyn account and directly using this money to buy materials, machines shipping products, and gas as well as pay our two committed contractors who are in the studio daily. We will be releasing an expense form after week 2.
