Climate Education for school children and farmers

Hi there, my name is Rose Kobusinge, a Ugandan climate justice activist and a humanitarian. I raise climate awareness in Uganda, Africa and the world at large. I am fundraising for climate education.

 

To facilitate an impactful resilient generation that restores/replenishes nature and empowers the most vulnerable people. The initiative's work explores broad social-economic and environmental areas such as climate change, activism, environmental degradation, skilling the youth, sustainable development, gender equity, refugees and governance etc.

 

Raising climate change awareness in the most vulnerable population and nurturing activism in Uganda is one of the key focus. The reality of climate change is unfair and unjust. Those that contributed the least are suffering the most. The most vulnerable communities in Uganda are experiencing harsh climate change effects mainly droughts, landslides, floods and unpredictable seasons. Unfortunately, these communities do not know why the climate is changing, for how long and what they can do. This creates an adaptation and mitigation gap with communities losing incomes, lives, property, and culture to climate change. The national curriculum does not teach climate change. The youth leaders in this initiative possess thoughtful leadership to raise awareness in schools benefiting teachers, children and parents. A climate change awareness competition are also being with support from this fundraiser.

 

The initiative also provides fruit trees and native tree species to schools and provides them with technical assistance to nurture the trees.

The initiative is also identifying some of the most vulnerable girls that dropped out of school due to losing parents to COVID19 and the 2-year long pandemic induced school closure. The girls are always the first to drop out of school in case of such shocks, let's help them to attain their right to education.

The target is £5,000 and I know we can do this.
