Fair Ways Care leavers Christmas appeal
Fair Ways is launching a Care Leavers Christmas appeal alongside campaigner Chris Wild to provide rucksacks full of essentials and small gifts this Christmas to young care leavers in the UK.
A care leaver is any adult who has spent time in care. This normally means growing up in residential homes or foster care after being removed from their family for a number of reasons from abuse, neglect or parental substance misuse.
Care leavers face many hardships at 18 when they face a sudden stop to most support and funding, leading them to feel alone and abandoned. Care leavers often struggle with poor mental health, unemployment, crime and homelessness, in fact, recent statistics show that within the first 2 years, one-third of care leavers become homeless.
We are reaching out to the community around us to help us this Christmas. We would like to fill as many rucksacks with essentials and small gifts as possible to make Christmas a little brighter for some of society's most vulnerable.
All your donations will go to buying items for these bags.
