Who We Are
For over 90 years, Fairmont Royal York has been at the heart of Toronto and cared for millions of guests. Countless memories and moments have been created at Fairmont Royal York, the essential Toronto experience.
Current Situation
The COVID-19 pandemic is something our hotel and the entire hospitality and tourism industry could have never expected. The current situation has brought devastation to Fairmont Royal York and the entire hospitality sector with business levels dropping lower than the SARS outbreak and 2007 recession combined.
Who Needs Your Help
Our Fairmont Royal York family of 1,100+ colleagues have devoted anywhere from two months to over forty years of their lives serving our guests and other colleagues. Due to the current circumstances, the vast majority our colleagues have been placed on temporary layoff or have had hours significantly reduced. While there is government support and we are working with our teams to leverage these resources, we know that this will only go so far, as this crisis continues. These are the people who greet you and the community with a smile and take care of each other day after day and this is your chance to help ease their challenges at home now.
How You Can Help
Fairmont Royal York colleagues are family and we want to ensure that their own families do not go hungry. Our goal is to provide as many meals as possible to our colleagues and 100% of the donations will go directly to employees who are facing uncertain personal and financial circumstances, including those in danger of losing housing and other essential resources. In addition to this, Fairmont Royal York will match every generous donation made.
Together we can make a difference and bring these hardworking individuals back to work mentally and physically healthy.
We appreciate your support during this time and hope you all continue to take care of each other.
“We are committed to doing everything we can to offer support to our colleagues during this unprecedented crisis. We are assisting our colleagues with continuing education programs, finding temporary employment and ensuring that the people who thrive on social interactions with our guests and each other are being taken care of. It is truly these people who bring our building to life on a daily basis and we look forward to a time when we can bring these amazing Toronto Ambassadors back to work as soon as possible.”
