Mike Parry (Fairport Mike)

The Miles Avenue neighbors in Fairport, NY are raising funds to provide a burial for Mike Parry, AKA Fairport Mike.  Many people know Mike or have seen him around Fairport.  Mike was born in Manchester, England.  He immigrated to the United States as a young child when his father started working at Kodak.  The family lived on Miles Avenue in the Village of Fairport and Mike lived there most of his life.  He graduated from Fairport High School in 1978.  Mike loved everything about Fairport and took pride in being a Village resident and in all things related to Fairport High School especially Fairport athletics.  He also loved all local sports and was a big Amerks, Red Wings and Buffalo Bills fan.   Mike felt at home spending time in Perinton Park.  
 
As those of you who knew, Mike, it was clear he loved Fairport, enjoyed people, took an interest in others accomplishments, and was the type of person who would do anything for you.  Mike had his ups and downs in life.  The last few months he was homeless but still could be seen in the Village and was always happy to bump into a familiar face to talk to. 

Mike's body was found in the Erie Canal the morning of November 1, 2020, an accidental drowning.  Mike was 61 years old.  Mike had no extended family in the area or in the United States.  His next of kin in England has not been able to be located.  His neighbors on Miles Avenue are working together to provide him with a final resting place in Fairport.
 
This Go Fund Me account has been set up to cover the costs of his burial.  Any proceeds beyond the costs of the burial will be donated to the Perinton Food Shelf in Mike’s name.
