Faisel Bartman Legacy tournament 2024

Faisel Bartman Legacy Foundation started with a simple conversation in 2019 between myself and my late father. We wanted to do something to give back to the same community I grew up in that is heavily infested with gang violence, drugs and crime.

March of 2020 my father passed away. I knew then I needed to make sure I start this foundation and uphold the legacy my father’s legacy in my community. My father was a soccer coach who gave his life to help kids stay away from all these things that was happening in our community. He was a father figure to every kid who played soccer for his team. If kids didn’t show up to training or games he would personally go to their house to find out why the kid has not been showing up. If kids did not perform well in school they would be training and coming to all the games but weren’t allowed to play if they were slacking in school. This was the type of person my father was, not just to me but to the entire community of Bonteheuwel.

This year will be our 4th annual tournament! We have been growing every single year! The tournament has become something now that all kids are looking forward towards. The tournament has also been there to tell a message to all kids from my community. The message is HOPE. There’s hope for kids to be able to make it out of their environment. I am an example of one of the kids who grew up in that same community who has seen and experienced the same things the kids of Bontehuewel are experiencing and if I can use soccer to make something of myself they could do the same!

The funds will be used to provide meals for every player and coach who is participating in the event. It will also be used to buy water for the tournament for kids to have throughout the day!

The funds will be used to reward individual players for doing well throughout the tournament. We will provide fruits as well with their meals.
