Faith Developmental Centre

Faith developmental centre is asking for help to finish building the community kitchen.

The kitchen will be used by other entrepreneurs to help build their businesses in the community. I'm also working with UPlift Black and supported by the community to help the community kitchen get up and running.

Hi, my name is Alicia. My organization is called Faith Developmental centre.

Faith Developmental Centre (FAITH) was founded by a family inspired to design programming and provide services to promote love for all people and love for ourselves. We understand the importance of self-care and self-love and our programming and services reflect that. Our programming and services are designed to support children, youth and adults, particularly those with developmental disabilities and those suffering from mental illness.

Our mission is to ensure that all individuals served at FAITH will have the fulsome support they need. No one will be turned away. Our doors are open to everyone. If it is short-term support you need, we provide day and evening programming and services.

We specialize in various programming and services such as:

1. Day Programs for adults with developmental disabilities

2. Art Therapy Programs

3. Life Coaching Services

4. Mindfulness Therapy (Mindset Training)

5. Mentorship Programs

6. Fitness Programs

7. Self-care Programs and Services

8. Transportation Services

9. Food Services

In August of 2021, I found a commercial unit to fulfill my vision of a developmental centre because I realized that it was an essential need in the city of Barrie.

I located a building to carry out this purpose but I was unable to do any construction until we received the permit in the second week of January. Following the construction, we were only allowed to work on Saturdays and Sundays after 5:00 p.m.

From our estimated calculations, everything would have worked out fine however, we were hindered by the landlord’s stipulation - no week day’s construction-along with the delay in receiving the permit.

Due to all that I have encountered, everything has been thrown off and the process has taken way longer than expected.

We are in need of assistance to finalize the completion of this centre. We have to complete the accessible entrance door, the universal washroom, the equipment to run our programs and the commercial kitchen for which will we would accommodate the City of Barrie.

We tried applying for business loans but were unsuccessful. Also, We contacted the MPP of Barrie and Innisfil and the Barrie chambers of commerce and various business centres but to no avail.
