Sick Kids Toy Drive/Head Shave

Donation protected
My name is Faizal Khamisa, and I'm a national sports anchor in Canada for Sportsnet. I can genuinely say I have the best job in the world. But 12 years ago, I had one of the most unfortunate days of my life.

'Faizal, you have cancer.' That's what I rememeber from June 1st 2005. Well, two years of chemotherapy and 6 surgeries later I was in remission on June 1st, 2007.

I'm very fortunate to say that on June 1st, 2017 I celebrated being 10 years cancer free. I owe a lot to Sick Kids in Toronto for saving my life.

Last year we did a toy drive to give back, and it had amazing success thanks to all of your donations. This year, we want to give even more and make it even bigger.

So to do that, I'll be shaving my head on live TV at the end of the month. I want to give as many toys as possible to these kids, and I'm hoping you can help out.

I've been thinking a lot about the day I got diagnosed, and I remember wanting to be so brave. I felt invincible until waking up one morning to most of my hair on my pillow. I never felt more vulnerable and insecure than when I lost my hair, and I know the kids facing this challenge feel that way too. I feel I owe it to them to show that they have support in their fight.

I really hope we can make this the best toy drive yet.
