Falcarragh CSC Summer Cup
Donation protected
Annual Football Tournament held in memory of John Harley and Joe Kelly.
The proceeds of this year's Falcarragh CSC Summer Cup will be divided equally between 2 local organisations. The first of these is the Caring Capall.
Caring Capall was established by Katie Coyle and family including husband Michael, daughter Anna and son Joe and is based around providing equine-assisted activities and therapeutic riding for those with additional needs
What is therapeutic riding ?
Therapeutic Horse Riding is a multi-area intervention therapy which is used for children and adults with a variety of physical, cognitive, emotional and developmental disabilities. Therapeutic riding has been recognised for decades to improve:
Physical, Emotional, Social, Cognitive, Behavioural. It is also a healthy and fun activity.
They are based in a fully enclosed area in Falcarragh which allows them to operate all year round. They also have access to 20 acres of farmland in which they plan to develop a sensory trail for use in the better months of spring and summer.
The second of the organisations, along with Caring Capall, which we will be donating funds to, is Solas.
Solas Donegal is an outdoor walking programme that supports people in their mental health recovery. The emphasis of Solas is walking, talking and listening in nature; exercising in nature has many proven benefits for both your physical and mental health.
The programme is for people experiencing mental health difficulties – e.g. anxiety, depression and people open to attending a programme of group walks in nature to support their recovery.
The aim of the Solas programme is to support each person’s journey of recovery – it is a person-centred programme that helps build confidence and develop positive, supportive relationships. Give hope for the future. Help reduce our sense of isolation. Provide the opportunity to share experiences and enjoy the interaction with other group
members, a central part of the programme. Help people have fun in a relaxed setting
