Fall Harvest Celebration for Manzanita SEED
Donation protected
Dear Community Members in the Bay Area,
We are asking for your support to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Manzanita SEED Elementary School in Oakland, CA. Manzanita SEED is a Title I school with a dual immersion (Spanish and English) program. On Friday, October 29, 2021, Manzanita SEED would like to celebrate Día de los Muertos to remember and honor
the lives of those that have passed. Día de los Muertos is a festive and colorful traditional Mexican holiday where Mexican families remember and honor their deceased loved ones. We are asking for donations to purchase supplies (e.g., marigolds (cempasuchil), paint, etc) and offerings (e.g., bread, fruits) to build our altar. Offerings are laid out on the altar and it is believed that the spirits consume the essence and aroma of the foods being offered. When spirits depart, the living consume the food and share it with families, friends, and with members in their community. Your support would allow the students, families, and staff to come together to celebrate this special day. All funds would be used to purchase supplies and food for this event for students, families, and staff to enjoy at Manzanita SEED.
Please donate what you can! Please share this with as many people as you can! Help our students experience a memorable event.
In Solidarity,
Manzanita SEED Elementary School
