Falmouth's two Odyssey of the Mind teams are World Finalists! Both teams will be participating in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University in May 2019. They need your fundraising help!
The teams took home first and second place trophies from the recent Maine Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament and secured spots at Worlds. They now are working to raise money for their trip to Michigan.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for young people. Teams of students work together for months to create kid-driven solutions to one of five long-term problems that they then bring to competition. At competition, teams also are given a spontaneous problem to solve. Teams have adult coaches, but the students are not permitted to have anyone else give ideas, assist, or help solve the long-term problem.
This year both Falmouth teams chose the "Classics" problem where they had to create an original performance that included Leonardo DaVinci, his workshop, several of his inventions, and a cast of other characters. Each team wrote scripts, created props and scenery, made costumes, learned to be creative and work together, and had fun doing it!
It will cost approximately $1000 per person for the team members and their coaches to attend. Your donation will help cover registration, travel, food, lodging, and miscellaneous expenses related to the trip. Please consider helping them out!
