Families Affected by Morriston Gas Explosion
Donation protected
My name is Andy Protheroe, a Maths teacher at Olchfa School, and I am raising money to support the families affected by the recent and tragic gas explosion in Morriston, Swansea.
I am very proud of my Morriston upbringing, and have felt an enormous sense of pride watching the community come together to provide shelter, clothing and comfort for the families in need, some of whom have seen their home destroyed. Taking their lead, I would like to do what I can.
On Saturday morning (18th March) I will be walking from Clydach Road, Morriston (close to where the terrible incident occured) and aiming for the top of Pen Y Fan by Sunday afternoon, a total of 40 miles. I will be leaving my campervan along the route so that I have a place to get some kip on Saturday night, before the final trek and ascent on Sunday.
All the money raised will be passed to Cwmrhydyceirw Primary School, who are using this Friday as a fundraising day for the families, and are best placed to pass the money onto the relevant people. I have chosen this school, not only as I am an ex-pupil, but because they have children on roll who have seen their house destroyed in the tragedy.
My thoughts go to the family and friends of
local resident Brian Davies who sadly lost his life in this tragedy.
Please consider giving if you can.
Thank you,
Andy
