Family Cat Shot w Shotgun. Shattered Vertebrae

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lizzie. Our cat’s name is Ollie or AKA Momma Kitty. Someone shot her with a shotgun, should have fatally wounded her and left her for dead. She drug her way back to our front doorstep.

3 years ago we stopped at a small plant nursery in Texas. Suddenly, a small 5 week old kitten popped up behind us. She started following us around and meowing. The plant nursery owner said a stray cat had been having kittens consistently. Ollie was all alone, I’m not sure what happened to her litter mates. But she survived and was trusting enough to come to us, despite her momma cat being feral and Ollie not having much of any socialization.

She is an indoor/outdoor cat. We couldn’t have kept her inside if we tried, she loved being outside. She would try to follow us on walks. Loves to lay in the sun. And is so self sufficient, quick, smart, strong.

Fast forward to this Thursday. Someone shot our cat with a shot gun in a Suburban neighborhood in Texas. Shattered her vertebrae and intestinal damage. A cat that we rescued as a baby. A survivor. The sweetest, mild mannered kitty who gave and knew nothing but love. She managed to drag herself back to our house, with her back legs limp, dragging behind her.

She never goes far. Someone in this area used a shot gun to kill our cat.

We don’t even have the money to pay for the x-rays and mri’s, but we did it. Because she’s our family and we love her. The vet said surgery and aftercare would be extensive, with possibility of internal issues occurring over time. He believed the right thing to do was put her down. We have grappled with making the heart and gut wrenching decision to let her go. What’s right? We have cried, we have ran through every scenario. Our hearts are broken knowing she made it back to safety and we are faced with this choice.

All on my husbands birthday (Oct 9). He’s been in tears all day. She is his favorite cat. Something we shouldn’t be doing. Something so senseless.

All because someone likes to kill pets for kicks and giggles.

We have decided to TRY, try for our cats sake, to save her when other humans failed her. The surgery and after care will be extensive and expensive. The fundraiser goal is a ballpark estimate from a specialist. And that’s been one major factor in us pursuing further treatment, even with the vet original’s advice. After having her home for one night, and seeing the life that’s still inside her, I have to try. I don’t know if it’s wrong or right, selfish or selfless. But I won’t be ok without trying.

I will update everyone on a Facebook group or page throughout her journey and receipts of where the funds have been spent. 100% will go to her care. If there is any extra, it will be used to find her attacker to prevent another animal and family from going through this and/or donated to animal rescue.

WHO IS SHOOTING A SHOT GUN IN A SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD AND KILLING CATS?! I’m beyond livid, disgusted and on the verge of knocking on everyone’s door.

Children live in this neighborhood. One of our neighbors killed our pet. I feel so unnerved by this. I don’t feel safe. I don’t feel comfortable knowing a neighbor is responsible. Whoever you are, karma is a b.

I’m so angry. She was defenseless, helpless in the face of a gun. She never hurt anyone. And to know how she suffered at the hands of beings she trusted, shatters my heart.

If you can donate, please do. Anything helps. People can be evil, but we don’t have to be. Let’s be the light and do right by the creatures we have a duty to protect and care for. Let’s show Ollie love instead of hate. Let’s make my husbands ultimate birthday wish of his favorite cat having a chance at life, instead of a nightmare. Thank y’all
