Family devastated by Parkinson's and Wet Macular Degenerate
Donation protected

Sean Evans, diagnosed with Dementia with Parkinson’s symptoms a year ago, relies on his wife, Ashlee, as his primary caregiver. While his V.A. insurance covers his medical expenses, Ashlee’s condition, Wet Macular Degeneration (Wet AMD), is not covered. Wet AMD occurs when abnormal blood vessels beneath the macula leak blood and fluid, causing symptoms like blurriness, black spots, and wavy lines. This condition severely impacts central vision, which is essential for activities like reading and driving.
As Sean’s Dementia progresses, he will increasingly rely on Ashlee, making funds crucial for her treatment. The cost of injections for macular degeneration varies from several hundred to over $2,000 per dose, depending on the medication. Medications like Aflibercept (Eylea) and Ranibizumab (Lucentis) typically cost between $1,850 and $2,000 per dose. These treatments can halt the disease’s progression but won’t restore lost eyesight. Prompt action is being sought to preserve Ashlee’s remaining vision.
Despite their hard work and independence, Sean and Ashlee are facing financial challenges. Sean’s recent dismissal from his job at a local gun store due to his Parkinson’s disease and other factors has left them struggling to make ends meet. Their unemployment benefits and Army pension are insufficient to cover Ashlee’s treatment costs, especially with two children to support. We are deeply grateful for all the prayers and support. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
