University Oaks Athens Fire Hero Family
Donation protected
As most of you know, there was a huge fire at University Oaks apartments in Athens, GA on Friday evening (11/18/22).
This is the face of heroism. 19 year old Gregory was babysitting his 2 year old brother while their mother was at work. The fire started in their apartment from the heating unit. Greg was able to get himself and his baby brother out of the apartment and then began alerting neighbors.
12 units completely burned and 27 residents have been displaced. But everyone made it out safely! However, the heating unit at Greg’s apartment had been worked on THREE times that week, including that very afternoon, when the family was assured “it was fixed”. Obviously not. Thank God this hadn’t been a few hours later when everyone was asleep!
This has been devastating to Greg’s family as they had just gotten moved in a few months ago and are having to start completely over. So grateful to have this family still here with us and they need our help.
Funds collected will go towards immediate needs for this family of 3 such as clothing, toiletries and diapers.
The family is also accepting donations of these same items:
Clothing:
Mom: Women’s Small, Pants Size 4-6
Gregory: Men’s Small, Pants 30x32
Baby: 18-24 months, Diapers size 6
Thank you!!!
