A family who participated in the war in Ukraine in the United States needs help for housing
We are a family from Ukraine and came to the United States. My grandmother Valentina is 69 years old and I'm Angela, 28 years old, come from Donetsk. Then we left Donetsk in 2014 because of the Russian occupation of Donetsk. Then we moved to Odessa, and in February 2022 the Russian war followed again. So, we went to Warsaw, Poland. We have been in Poland for several months and voluntarily help other people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
We were lucky enough to come to the United States under the U4U program. Due to unstable work, we failed to rent an apartment. Since I take care of my grandmother. We were unable to pay on time for 7 months and every month we were charged with overdue payments in the amount of $295. I paid for everything, but because of this problem I couldn't cope in December and January. Now we are on the verge of losing our apartment in the United States, because we do not have enough money to cover the rent for December 2023. And January with overdue payments. We desperately need financial assistance to cover the rent, otherwise we face eviction.
The apartment managers have notified us that if we do not pay before January 8, they will submit documents for eviction to the court.
My grandmother is 68 years old, she does not speak English well and cannot work because of age and health, but she receives a small pension under the SSI refugee assistance program in the United States.
We would like to stay in the United States because the war in Ukraine is very dangerous. With monthly Russian military missile strikes on our city. And on December 30, 2023, a Russian rocket destroyed my friend's house. We are afraid to return to Ukraine.
We pray every day for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters and defenders of our brave country.
We would like to see if we can raise $6,000 to help us maintain our apartment to pay rent at the end of December and the upcoming rent in January, while we receive additional income from work and adjust our status to stay in the United States after a two-year period of humanitarian probation.
Please help. Thanks to everyone for this gofundme platform
