Family Fun Ends With Life Changing Accident

Saturday night, 4th of July the unthinkable happened to our beautiful daughter. Matt and the kids have always loved celebrating the 4th and lighting off fireworks. It "WAS" their favorite holiday. This was our last firework and then we were going to walk around the neighborhood and watch others. A large firecracker from 45 feet away projected debris and a freak accident occured! Nicole was struck in the face. Dominic is fine but absolutely traumatized as he was right next to her when it happened. I had her to Portland Adventist in less than 5 minutes. They immediately transported her by ambulance to OHSU where Sunday morning went under an almost 7 hour surgery at Casey Eye Institute. The surgeon came out and talked to myself with Matt on speaker, because of Covid I was the only one that could stay with her. The prognosis was what he suspected, the damage to her eye was too severe and they are not going to be able to save it. Nicole will be out of work for some time, have to undergo additional surgeries and get a prosthetic eye, she has a long road ahead but has one of the coolest kids ever to be strong for. Dominic is doing great all things considered. For a 4 1/2 year old he's been through more than most of us in a lifetime as he also lost his daddy unexpectedly exactly 2 years ago. 
I apologize to close family and friends that you are finding out this way, life has been very chaotic the last few days given the circumstances. 
Anything that you can help with is greatly appreciated. The proceeds will be used for her medical expenses, rent, bills and support of Dominic while she recovers and is unable to work. Funds will managed by Matt and I. Any extra will be put into Dominic's college 529 plan.
