Family horse viciously attacked by random Pitbull.

Hi, my name is John and on Thursday January 4th, at 9 AM, my family's 2 year old mare horse (Eve) was attacked by a strangers Pitbull. The man was walking his dog off-leash when it came onto my mothers property and started to attack Eve. She jumped over our fence and ran into our neighbors yard where the Pitbull chased and latched onto her legs and took her down to the ground. The dog attacked Eve's legs and hind quarters causing significant injuries and preventing her from getting up off the ground. After several minutes my mother and the neighbor got outside to figure out what was going on. When they arrived, the owner called his dog back to him and ran into the woods nearby. The police were called to the scene but by the time they arrived the man and his dog were long gone and sadly they have no leads.

A veterinarian was able to come out and stich and suture multiple wounds on her legs and hind quarters, but because of the severity of the injuries she needed to be trailered to an equine hospital, where she is expected to stay for some time while she is recovering. Any and all donations will be used to cover any current and foreseeable medical treatment that Eve will need to recover from her injuries. Thank you so much to everyone that has shared our story and donated! You don't know how much of a blessing this has been for our family and Eve! After nearly a week at the equine hospital she has returned home today. She still has a long road to a full recovery but thanks to the wonderful veterinarian team in stillwater that looked after her daily she has been improving every day. We will be stopping donations, we believe we've raised enough money for her current and upcoming medical bills, any left over money will be donated to a local equine rescue in Minnesota.
