Support Brandy Scott after critical colon surgery

On August 31st, 2024, I walked into Lourdes Hospital because the pain in my stomach was more than I could handle any longer. From what I'm told, I waited so long that my organs were starting to shut down. They told me I needed surgery. They put me in a room, and I spent the next six days being treated for an infection that I didn't have. My body swelled up so badly that they ended up having to fly me by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Hours later, I was being wheeled into surgery for a colectomy. In other words, to have part of my colon removed and also my appendix. I was told that when I came out of surgery, I would have a colostomy bag. But I was extremely fortunate to not end up with one. During surgery, they removed part of my colon and also my appendix.
After surgery, everything wasn't coming back together as fast as it was supposed to. I had many procedures done while at Sacred Heart. At one point, I came very close to losing my life. But God had other plans for me and eventually, with a lot of hard work and a lot of walking around the hospital, I was able to leave in a wheelchair. I'd spent 21 days with no food or water, only what was fed through my IV. I was able to take a breath of fresh air for the first time in a long time! I've never been happier in my life!
Despite all that I went through, it's given me a whole new outlook on life and my family. I don't know what I would've done without my family being there every day while I was in the hospital.
Recovering from surgery is taking way longer than anticipated. I hate asking for help, but I don't know what else to do. I'm still dealing with the effects of the surgery. About a month ago, all my long blonde curly hair completely fell out! Let's just say that did a number on my self-confidence. But I was reassured by my doctor that my low energy and hair falling out are because of the surgery & it'll grow back. I'm currently trying to get a job at Coyote Ridge Corrections, despite being embarrassed about my hair. There aren't a lot of job opportunities all the way out here in Kahlotus.
My insurance paid for some of my medical bills, but I'm still getting others in the mail. Mike has been doing everything he can to keep our heads above water. But having to drive to Spokane every day and not being able to work for the 21 days I was in Spokane and the 7 days I was at Lourdes Hospital made things hard for us.
Even if you can't help at this time, even a little message saying hi would help bring my spirits up! If I've learned anything from this experience, it's don't take things for granted and tell the people around you what they mean to you while you still are able to. Don't let any near-death experience be the reason you wake up and realize just how lucky we all are just to be alive!
