Family in need of emergency help, Zach Groat
Donation protected
My name is Chris and I am Zach’s friend and coworker. I’m writing this GoFundMe for my first time to ask for help for him, his wife Ellie and 3 very young children. Zach has been suffering with an unknown breathing condition for a couple years now and suddenly on the morning of 6/12 he was rushed to the emergency rooms unable to breathe. He was immediately intubated and life-flighted 100 miles away to a better equipped hospital in Vancouver, Washington. The specialists there are baffled and it’s still unknown why Zach can’t breathe on his own. He’s been in his hospital bed for a week now as his family watches over him.
I’ve only known Zach for about a year now and this is what I can tell you about his situation. Zach and his wife moved to the Washington coast a few years back from Colorado and he has since suffered from debilitating asthma type symptoms. I’ve noticed some days he breathes just fine and others he acts like a fish out of water. Zach and I work together at a hotel as maintenance workers and we spend our days delivering supplies and changing light bulbs. The pay is just above minimum wage and is one of the few jobs in our small town worth having. Zach does his best to earn enough, along with his wife, who also works at the hotel chain to support themselves and their 3 kids.
As you can imagine, Zach and Ellie have been out of work due to this emergency and need some help. Friends and what little family they have are giving everything they can spare to cover the costs of motel stays, basic utilities, diapers and food for the family. Zach’s condition is slightly improving as he can now respond to questions by wiggling his foot, but he has a long road ahead to regain the ability to go back to work. His Wife Ellie is also out of work taking care of the kids which they worked opposite shifts to care for while the other worked.
I don’t know much about how any of this works, but I know in my heart these are good people who got handed a rough deal. Any and all donations are going to Zach and Ellie to cover their basic needs while they get Zach back on his feet. They live modestly, but rent, utilities, gas, groceries and eventually some big medical bills are going to need paid. Our little town here is chipping in as best we can and we’re hoping we can get some extra help for these folks.
We thank you for your time and any donation you wish to offer. Take care folks.
