Family living in Gaza

This is the story

My name is Nour. I live in the wounded Gaza Strip with my family. I used to live a quiet life among the innocent faces I used to teach in kindergarten. My only concern was to see these children grow up like the rest of the children in the world and achieve their innocent dreams that they shared with me. But the horrors of the war that broke out on October 7, 2023, changed and turned our lives upside down. We lost many of our homes, loved ones, jobs, and sources of livelihood, forcing us to start life from scratch without shelter, food, or family.

Along with all this loss, I lost some of the children I was waiting to see grow up and live their promising future. Now, they lie under the soil of this land, ending their ambitions, and my colleagues at work have also passed away. The place where I worked has lost its children and teachers. With all this psychological suffering and the bitterness of what we endure, we now experience the hardship of constant displacement, moving from one place to another amidst the heat of the sun in refugee tents, scarcity of water, and skin diseases, fleeing the random bombings and making a final attempt to cling to the sacred life we were blessed with.

I am reaching out to you after sharing a brief glimpse of our suffering as human beings in Gaza, hoping to live a simple, peaceful life like the rest of the people in the world, and hoping for your support so that we can live a better life, recover a little of what we lost, and regain some strength to continue our lives in this harsh war. Every bit of help from you creates hope for me and my family, alleviates our distress, and enables us to stand on our feet again after being exhausted by wars, famines, and diseases.
