Family Loses Everything in Texas Apartment Fire
Donation protected
My name is Shane Michael. I am completely heartbroken to be sharing what has happened to my family.
Sometime around 3:00am on the morning of December 11th, my Sister-in-law and her kids were awaken to the sound of screaming, the smell of smoke, and their living room engulfed in flames. Luckily, they were all able to make it out onto the balcony, at the opposite end of the apartment, where they called out for help and made their way down to safety. They all managed to get out in time with their Boston terrier, Roscoe, in hand.
While I am so grateful that they made it out safe, albeit barefoot and terrified, everything they owned was lost in the fire. They made it out with only what clothing they were wearing while asleep.
Ashford Costa Esmeralda apartments is refusing to accept any liability or responsibility for their negligence and lack of fire safety protocol. And refusing to help place those who lost their homes within their community into empty units.
A previous GoFundMe was created by a family member of the kids’ father. They have withheld all donations from her and the kids and have ignored all efforts in obtaining the funds to provide clothing, food, and shelter for her and her two kids. A case has been opened in efforts to have those donations given to her family.
My family is in need.
In need of funds for food.
In need of funds for immediate housing.
In need of funds for clothing and shoes.
In need of funds for toiletries and basic necessities.
Please. Donate what you can. No amount is too small and every donation will go directly to her and her children. Every donation is appreciated more than can be expressed.
Please take the time to share as much as possible to help my family during such a terrible and traumatic ordeal.
