FAMILY LOST ALL IN DEVASTATING FIRE
Donation protected
A severe fire occurred Sunday morning, June 25 on Westmoreland Avenue in Syracuse, NY. This massive two-alarm fire totally destroyed the house. Thankfully the family escaped unharmed – but only with the clothes on their backs and their cell phones. One of our employees is the Mom of the family of 8 that is now dealing with finding a new place to live, replacing everything they owned, including all of their vital family documents. The family consisting of Mom, 4 younger children and 3 adult children originally lived in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), spent a few years in a refugee camp in Burundi and were settled several years ago as refugees in Syracuse, NY.
Syracuse Scenery & Stage Lighting Co., Inc. is a very proud employer of folk from the Syracuse, NY refugee community. Many refugees come to the United States with sewing and working with fabric skills that are essential to our more than 70 years work in fabricating stage curtains. Life as refugees is not easy. Life as refugees having lost all their possessions is devastating.
Syracuse Scenery is seeking contributions on behalf of the family to provide for their continued existence. Please help this family if you are able.
