Family lost home of 16 years

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Beatriz Sepulveda and I am reaching out to everyone on behalf of a family that has lost everything. Wilfrido Hugo Mora (goes by Hugo) and María Elena Balderas lived in their trailer home for 16 years but got the news that the owners were selling the property and they had to move out within a few months. Hugo said him and his family reached out to Serratos Mobile Home company after they left signs in front of their home. Soon after they wrote a contract to move the home to another location and put down a deposit of $800 dollars to start. The company of movers assured him that they would get the job done within 6 hours once they start and not to worry about anything. On the way to the destination at the corner of Malcolm Dr, the trailer took a turn for the worst. The hitch that was pulling the trailer home broke and the home shifted, blocking the entire street and partially falling in the ditch in both directions. That’s when the family’s luck got worse and they got the call that their house was in the middle of the street. After many failed attempts, the company they hired were not successful in moving the trailer home out of the street and the city came that same night to move the home over slightly and charged the family $1000. By that time the house was already cracked from the inside and out, the rain came in hard that night and by the morning the house was in worse shape. The city had informed them that they would have 2-3 days to get their belongings out before it had to be demolished. Hugo and his wife came back the next day to try and get a few things out the house but weren’t able to get much out due to their health and due to the condition the house was left in. It looked like the house was on the verge of collapsing. That’s when neighbors from the street and my mom had agreed to help Hugo in the evening and told them that they can store the items at our house until they find a home. By the time Hugo came back that evening, people had already been in the house stealing valuable things that were left in there. While the neighbors and Hugo were cleaning the place out to get the little things that were still in good condition that night, he was approached by another city worker stating that he had to move the house over into the ditch due to the a safety hazard. Once again the street was blocked. The police were here and they started to demolish the house, leaving it in the ditch for someone to pick up in the morning.

While I know that this was really long to read, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows the story behind this family and the loss that they are going through. I wish this on no one and I hope they get the help they need to get into a new home. Any little bit will help them. They are currently living in a hotel and Hugo said that it’s getting really expensive. And the not knowing if the company will be helping them or not is very disappointing.

UPDATE: HUGO has found a new home, the family wants to thank every single one of you who have helped thus far. He said it’s bitter sweet since his home was already paid off and he lost so much but this is a fresh start for him and his wife. The moving company has yet tried to help the family in anyway or form so this is all coming out of pocket.

Please keep sharing so that Hugo and his family can take a little more off their plate. Thank you!
