Family Matriarch Nikki Christy Battles Lung Cancer

Our family has been fielding hits left and right the past year. Fresh on the heels of losing our beloved dad, Poppa, uncle, brother and husband just 2 short months ago, we are now rallying around our matriarch as she prepares to battle cancer. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 small cell lunger cancer, which is an aggressive and quickly spreading evil. It has made its way into her lymph nodes and airway. It is inoperable so chemo is the treament available to us at this point.

If you know her you know Nikki Christy, you know she has a heart of gold. Cares for anyone and everyone, oftentimes sacrificing herself for others. She is a mother, sister, aunt, Nana, secret keeper, and the matriarch of the Christy family (and all of its branches) in every way that matters. Somehow juggles allllll the plates, and almost everyone else's as well. Sage words of advice & a hug are always at the ready. And a baseball bat if someone crossed us.

She is a fierce animal advocate, a friend to everyone, and can throw down in the kitchen like nobody's business. There is never, ever a stranger at her table; nor is anyone ever turned away. Countless holidays, we would bring someone that had no family and she welcomed them with open arms. By the time they left, she was their Nana too.

Never finding that one true love, she has devoted her heart to all of us, and taken care of us always. Living in this day and age on a single income is challenging in the best of circumstances, but being diagnosed with a terminal illness brings additional expenses, and challenges.

Our family is rallying around her, and in the weeks and months to come we will learn more about how we are going to beat this disease. And make no mistake, nobody crosses our family and lives to tell about it; not even cancer!
